/sci/ i need a good idea for my biology science fair project. it must be biology related and be able to finish it by Jan/Feb. My only idea so far is to take a male mouse and female mouse and see which can learn mazes faster, but i want something a little more in depth. any ideas?

>The stack of paper you'd have to fill out to do the experiment you're talking about

Maybe you can get away with it in highschool, but colleges won't let you touch vertebrates unless you have a VERY good reason.

Anyway, I'd do something with insects. They're abundant, and easy to deal with. OR, you can do plants. I hate plants, but you could rate ground cover 0-3 increasing and then rate canopy cover 0-3 decreasing and map your study area in google earth and you should get a negative correlation.

Or just do insects. Trust me.

Unlike PETA would have you think, animal research is very regulated. This is the org that handles it:

http://www.iacuc.org/

and my university's version:

http://www.utexas.edu/research/rsc/iacuc/

Invertebrates, such as insects, aren't as well regulated, so undergrads tend to stick to them for experimental studies.

Canada's healthcare system is good for taking care of actual life threatening injures at no cost.

The system itself is good, but it has been buttfucked by people abusing the system. Since everything is free, people go to the hospital everytime they get a fucking headache, which means people with actual problems have to wait for ever.

The simplest solution would be to add a small charge for visits to doctors and the hospital to weed out a lot of the people that don't actually need to be there.

This is what you people simply don't understand. If you have an ailment how do you know what it is pre-diagnosis? A headache can be the onset of a barrage of complications. And nurses are far too incompetent to know just by checking your pulse and a few other details what ails you.

Yes, because its not them that ruined the system, its the system not being able to keep up with its clients (taxpayers) that ruined itself. If you pay such high taxes, like the ones in Canada, wouldn't you expect quality services and not excuses in return?

>> No.2078458

Granted, its the systems fault for being so easy to take advantage of. But the fee would still get rid of the people that know they don't really need to be there.
