What I expected: Learning interesting shit and how to really teach students

What I got: Memorizing TCA, glycolysis, calvin, photosystem metabolism with over 9000 women nursing majors and learning the philosophy of teaching students and not how to actually teach

Expected: I don't know, something smart. Biology is pure memorization and just don't have the math skills for physics.

Got: Thoughts of suicide. There's a couple scientists coming to give a talk from a big-wig pharma company. They're doing one-on-one interviews for recruiting, I'm actually entertaining the thought of dropping to my knees and sucking dick just so I can get a job and out of school.

I was referring to the public's obsession with genetic determinism.

The idea that one gene=one phenotype. It leads to stupid ideas like there being a "gay gene" or that an insurance company can put any predictable statistic on the way you'll die/act simply from a coding gene.
