Because people who consider themselves intelligent usually decide atheism is for them as it makes them look smarter,as people with religious beliefs are commonly believed to only have those beliefs because they were raised with them and not intelligent enough to make their own decision.

However, this is silly. And personally I think if people were really smart they would accept the possibility of a god, and even if not, accept it just to be part of your surroundings and to be closer to the humans around you, as even if their god isn't a reality, their beliefs are and friendship is more important than whether something is true or not.

/sci/ has massive problems with spiritual beliefs, and there are more atheists on this board than any other, but as long as they're happy with their own stance/actions than I'm cool with whatever they choose to believe. However, /sci/ does not seem like a board with happy people. Sorry if I offended anyone with that comment, its just I feel this board, moreso than any other, lacks spirit.
