Greeting Four Chan Science and Mathematics Forum.

I'm a student from the year 2104 (61 according to the New Era calendar) and I'm doing a report for class on communication in pre-singularity American society - I was hoping I could ask your "on line" discussion forum some questions.

Yesterday was one of your country's "Middle Term Elections" and you voted an unprecedented Democratic majority in both houses of the Congress, paving the way for decades of radical progressive reform that will, 33 years from now, culminate in the technological singularity of the human race. Manipulation of matter on a sub-molecular level, exabyte processors, faster than light travel - mere decades away.

How does it feel to live in such an exciting era of human history? What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

Hey man, if there was a technological singularity why do independent student entities still exist?

While human civilization in my time has the technological capability to simply download information directly into the brain, many in my era still believe in the ideal that something given has no value, that knowledge and reason must be earned. Traditional education (and in my present case, hands-on research) is still preferred.

Ah yes 'temporal paradoxes'. Shortly after perfecting time travel, scientists discovered that there are natural laws which prevent such paradoxes from occurring. I'd explain but I'm afraid my understanding of them is only pre-University, my focus of study is Anthropology, not Temporal Science.

I know you're lying because your post doesn't involve any Technocratic for-science countries.

A technocracy implies that only the highly educated and specialist members of society hold political power. That describes nearly all citizens in my time.

Our government operates as a direct democracy. All citizens keep up to date on current politics and voter turnout for even small issues is usually around 98-99%

Very nearly. Ironically the only thing we don't have a cure for is acute viral rhinopharyngitis, even nanomachines have a hard time dealing with it.

As I already stated, society in my time upholds the principle that knowledge must be earned through one's education. There's an old saying I believe, "It's not the journey, it's the destination." The process of learning is just as important as the information learned. Imagine if the American education system in your era had been based on rote memorization of facts as opposed to the more thorough study, understanding, and application of knowledge you're used to.

I apologize if my 21st century computer terminology is incorrect, since computer technology is now developed, updated, and repaired autonomously it's no longer necessary to know proper terminology.

Also, you are partially correct - traveling at near-luminal or luminal velocities is indeed impossible, however spacecraft propulsion in my era operates by warping space around the craft rather than accelerating the craft through space.

Sorry futuredude, but Alcubierre drives are impossible too. They explode as soon as they turn on. Even if they did work, it would just create time paradoxes too.

Also, traveling to the past is impossible.
