hey /sci/, ya'll are smart so maybe you'll know the answer to this:

i just heard that high pitch tonal sound of a hearing cell dying in my ear. does this mean my hearing is now not as good in the range of the tone i heard?

pic not related

>a hearing cell

Wat.

you know, when you hear that high pitched sound all of a sudden for like 5 seconds and it fades out

that's like a hearing cell dying or something

The ringing in your ears is the damaging of the axon or the little hairs in your ear. You will no longer be able to use that particular cell to transmit an electromagnetic impulse to your brain to interpret that particular frequency.

no it's not

I know what you mean. The cells that do the hearing aren't necessarily unique, though, so another on the same frequency could still be there.
