If it did not, we would have to find another point of referance. Probably not even in this universe, However subatomic particles do sometimes act as though they are independent.
Entropy seems to dictate that 1+1 will equal 2 but slightly slower every time.

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? 1+1=2 is derived form Set theory you dumbass, which is derived from the standard set of mathematical axioms (Zermelo–Fraenkel set theory).
