Hello /sci/ I need some help. Currently I'm supposed ot figure out the copper cycle. The chemicals I'm allowed to use were HCL, HNO3, NaOH, and H2SO4.

Here's what I've gotten so far:

1. Cu + 2HNO3 -> Cu(NO3)2 + H2
the H2 does not form in the solution so it only produces Cu(NO3)2..
2. Cu(NO3)2 + 2NaOH -> Cu(OH)2 + NaNO3
all of this is soluble except Cu(OH)2.. so that is the only product.
3. Cu(OH)2 +H2So4 -> CuSO4+ 2H20
I'd assume you would heat the solution and the water would depart..
4. CuSo4 + ? -> Cu

I'm stuck on the final one. I considered HCL but it wouldnt isolate the copper. Am I doing something wrong for this? Any help would be appreciated. Thx

You're sure you can't use Zn ?

Reaction 1: Converting Copper metal to copper nitrate Cu(s)+ 4HNO3(aq) -->Cu(NO3)2(aq) + 2NO2(g)+ 2H2O(l)
Reaction 2: Converting Copper nitrate to Copper hydroxide Cu(NO3)2(aq)+ 2NaOH(aq) --> Cu(OH)2(s)+ 2NaNO3(aq)
Reaction 3: Converting copper hydroxide to copper oxide Cu(OH)2(s) + heat --> CuO(s) + H2O(g)
Reaction 4: Converting copper oxide to copper sulfate CuO + H2SO4 --> CuSO4(aq) + H2O(l)
Reaction 5: Converting copper sulfate back to copper metal CuSO4(aq) + Zn(s) --> ZnSO4(aq) + Cu(s)
