okay /sci/ i need to write a paper on an astronomical event for Astronomy next week. tell me what would happen if the stars in teh picture collided, google has failed me so far.

I'm no scientist, but I don't think they would crash. The amount of energy given off by that sun as you get closer and closer would just break apart the ice sun. Now, I'm not sure if it would be completely melted (or if the energy would really melt it, because idk if once it melted if it would go right back to solid becuase of the cold temp. or if it would really melt at all) by the time it reached the sun

Well to raise 1gram of water(or ice) one degree Celsius requires 1calorie = 4.18400 joules.

The nuclear energy contained in 1 gram of hydrogen is 0.01(300000000)^2 joules = 9.0 × 10^14 joules

So one gram of hydrogen from the "sun made of fire" can raise 1gram of H20 from the "sun made of ice" by 215105163000000 degrees. This is far more than enough to turn it into plasma.

honestly it depends on how cold the ice is.

My guess would be that no matter how cold space gets the sun will most likely break in down into oxygen and hydrogen rather quickly and just explode.
This also draws into quantum physics because the particles on the sun are so hot that they do crazy things like pass through each other and an insane amout of electrons flying everywhere.
It would break it down quickly.
