I'm changing my degree from Computer Engineering to Mathematics. What do you think /sci/ ?

Are mathematicians really the superior race?

>> No.1911548

if you think a "superior race" actually exist might as well kill yourself.

what you learn in any field are tools, everything depends on how you put those tools together... Sure it works to be a mathematician but also they have no idea how to apply math in problems that dont involve machines or retarded stuff like that.

i have a undegrad degree in EE and economics, minor western history.

Im studying a MS in environmental studies right now, and im focused in complex science in biological systems.

that involves applied math, particulary in the field of dynamics. Although my economics background made me capable of understanding statistical models too.

so yeah if you think studying in 1 field would make you a more knowledgeable person, you are an ass.

About seven feet to the right of that image is a philosopher smoking a joint.

You are bound for failure.

>systems bio useful

applied math/dynamics == systems bio

your whole post is invalid because you dont know shit.

and whats that purity bullshit.. its called generalization and specialization.

fuckass...

I'm pretty sure the comic defines "purity" as inversely proportional to practicality.

>> No.1911624

purity = beauty

>> No.1911628

mathematicians are even more socially inept then engineers [who thought that' possible] so of course sci adores them

>> No.1911647

>>1911609

Kind of right. Purity, in the sense of the comic, is how much the discipline deals and relies on physical objects and, this is important, how much it relies on (or is a special case of) the field to the right.

So, the dude who said philosophy is full of shit. Nothing depends on philosophy. (I don't actually believe that, it was just a bad joke.)
