He played it for a laugh. In context he said it after asking the interviewer "Have you ever played Second life?" To which the interviewer responded "I'm afraid I haven't". Dawkins replied "Well I'm afraid I have".

When I played WoW, I routinely convinced people I was a young 7 year old girl. I studied the typing habits of my loli cousin for several months, as well as typing speed, frequency of response, general understanding of the world, and little girl interests.
