Having a "green life style" should not be just a choice.

If going green is the only way to prevent global warming, then every person of the world, has a moral responsibility to take care of the planet.

The well being of the planet is more important than the well being of any nation, organization or person.

Having a green lifestyle doesn't have to mean you use less water or energy, ssytems just need to be made more efficient. The idea of a carbon tax is the stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard, unless ALL the money from those taxes are going into renewable energy and upgrading the grid infrastructure for less losses.

Moral is an opinion. There is no wrong/right.

OK, do you have a plan?
Otherwise you're just pulling a reverse Sarah Palin (i.e. complaining without offering a solution, but on the opposite side of the political spectrum in which she dwells).

There is no shit storm. Anyone who's read a couple decent books (Or is mildly intelligent) understands that morals are not only subjective, but that they are entirely gray.

Patience is a virtue.
But it's not always good to be patient.

Gluttony is a sin.
But without food we wouldn't be able to survive.
Without a lot of food, we wouldn't be able to be strong, healthy, and happy.
Without fancy and high-end food, we would be missing out on quite a lot.

There's is always another side to the coin, a side that some ignorant people would rather not see.

Evangelicals believe the world is ending anyway so why bother? Rid the world of them first if you want change.

I guess this is the part where you arbitrarily change the definition of 'Gluttony' to make the truth sound a little less sturdy than it actually is.

Pretty much all economists (even the classical liberal free market-loving ones) agree that a carbon tax, or some other market mechanism that puts a price on carbon, is the best solution to encouraging a shift towards renewable energy. But politically speaking it was difficult to to convince people, unless the the tax was accompanied by tax cuts equal in other areas .So they resorted to cap-and-trade instead, a proven solution to other environmental problems. For example, it successfully eliminated lead from gasoline and curtailed acid rain. However, ever since the Tea Party ideology took over the GOP, this Republican-originated legislation got turned into some sort of liberal corruption scheme. Combined with actual corruption due to lack of oversight and regulation, cap-and-trade has been demonized in public opinion.

Lastly, there's cap-and-dividend, which basically gives a direct subsidy to citizens taken from the carbon cap. In essence it produces the exact same result as the carbon tax originally. I'm not sure why the GOP has refused this last-ditch proposal, apart from opposing anything climate-y as a whole.

Ironically this will come back to bite them on the ass when there are no more feasible options other than the actual curtailment of economic freedom they've been fearing so much, and massive heavy-handed government intervention.
