<MFW I used to know shit about Chemistry, but took a year break from University and now struggle with basic problems from not exercising my brain enough and boredom of the subject.

Need to get back into it and stop smoking pot, but find it too boring (I'm lazy and probs have ADD) what do?

Anyone else been in a similar situation?

Read books, gain wisdom.

I do but not Chemistry, I've been far too busy and fascinated reading about other fields of study. Not changing course though.
I can only seem to do well in academia if I'm being forced to do it, if I'm left to my own independent study like at University, I make little progress, got no self discipline at all.

That's because they were fending off dementia. An impasse was created between the progression and decline of your intellect.

If you are motivated enough to ask strangers to help you with your problem, you have enough will power to get yourself off your ass and become the Chemist you dreamed about being.

Or, find someone else that you would do it for, IE, significant other, parent, dog, goldfish, etc.

Hope this helps. God speed.

Thank you anon, better then being told I have dementia I guess. I think my problem is intellectual confidence.
