Trollphysics thread?

That said, I was looking through my bookcase and found this really old book of experiments you can do at home cheaply. It's a kids book, so nothing dangerous. But this experiment was in it and I immediately thought of /sci/ and the wonderful troll physics threads.

Can anyone verify if this works, and how? If you want, I'll mspaint some more experiments from the book. It's titled: The Usborne Big Book of Experiments.

It does, I've seen it happen. The stream of water pouring out of the bottle acts like a fiber optic, capturing photons by reflecting them continuously inside itself. When the stream hits the bowl or whatever is catching the water, the photons are free to go wherever, meaning they can reach your eyes, making you perceive visible light.

Here's another one from the book.

It's like I'm 5 years old again. I just want to take out all the pots and pans and have fun. Gonna watch some old Bill Nye episodes.

It does work. A simple example of this in action: the light that gets into your eyes has to escape somewhere, right? It actually gets stored in your bladder and comes out when you pee, causing your pee to glow yellow. That's why our pee is yellow, because most of the light be absorb (from the sun, lightbulbs, ect) is yellow!

The more you know! :)

Why the troll face? I've seen this work, except there was a match in the bottle to make the air extra warm to start with.
