What is an Einstein-Rosen bridge? No wikipedia links, and laymans terms only.
pic unrelated, I suspect.

>> No.1845981

Wormhole.

A bridge in between two points in normally unconnected spacetime.

How does it work?

It doesn't, a senile old mans idea.

building off of that, an easy way to think of it is as if we took a piece of paper that represents spacetime, folded it over on itself, and poked through it with a straw.

the analogy doesn't do it justice because you have to account for the fact that it's not simply connected. but i don't think that's relevant to what you want to know.

Im actually not that interested in a metaphor, I'd rather hear the actual mechanics explained, I realize that goes against the laymans bit though

Where this thread is going, we won't need eyes to see...

There are no actual mechanics. Nobody's ever successfully done what he's describing.

Thus far, wormholes exist only in mathematical models, not in observable reality.

Watch Sliders. It explains everything.

haha, good point. i didn't mean it like that. the reason i said straw was because i was trying to conjure up the image of a tube connecting one side to the other.

let's try again. if you're familiar with string theory, supposedly traversable wormholes could be opened up by cosmic strings and then cosmic expansion would sort of blow up the hole so that a tunnel was created connecting one point in spacetime to another, making it possible to travel instantly from the first point to the next.

silly rabbit.

and i quote... "Einstein-Rosen Bridge is a 2003 12" release by Venetian Snares. It features 'Einstein-Rosen Bridge', a track taken from The Chocolate Wheelchair Album, with two other wild, different versions."

happy now?
