Isn't possible, at least in the numerical aspect.

You could perhaps take advantage of the varying sizes of the "cut off" squares in order to put on an illusion of an additional or missing square.

I just worked some of these out, and it forms an alternating pattern.

1,1,2:
1x2 = 1^2+1

1,2,3:
1x3 = 2^2-1

2,3,5:
2x5 = 3^2+1

3,5,8:
3x8 = 5^2-1

5,8,13:
5x13 = 8^2+1

If I were better at math I'm sure I'd figure out some simple reason *why* these numbers are correlated like that, but for now it's just weird and kind of awesome, sort of like how if you add odd numbers in series starting at 1 you always get the next perfect square.
