In the comments section, someone said "I would not want to live forever."
I hear this often, but never understood. Is their life that terrible? Is Earth not good enough for them? Are they delusional?

If I could accomplish one thing it would be to live forever (not like brain in a jar unable to communicate), I could accomplish anything with enough time. Plus I'm painfully curious as to how and when the human race expands into space, and the only way to find out is to watch it happen.

Anyone else not want to love forever? why?

...also from comments:
>in bible times when people were living to be 900 years of age, they didn't have diseases like cancer, aids or even leprosy at that point.
mfw Jesus had to cure a leper

I'm with OP.

According to the bible, by the time Jesus was here lifespans were shorter than today's. Those ages are from waaaaaay before the roman empire.

Yeah, I'll be honest, I've only glanced at handfuls of passages, never read the whole Bible because it was so awkward. Example, what's wrong with just capitalizing Lord instead of writing LORD everywhere? I get it, he's supposed to be important. It breaks the flow way too much to keep my interest, as well as all those numbers everywhere.

Lifespans in biblical times were about 25-30 years.

Being an avid transhumanist, I often ask people whether they'd like to live forever as an all-powerful machine God.

I have never met a single person who has said yes.

I weep for humanity. Honestly. It's going to get really lonely out there amongst the stars by myself.

Through my youth I studied the bible like five days a week. I'll admit I still kind of enjoy it from time to time.

Old Testament stories are pretty neat, you have to admit. It's like any mythology, fun stories, no need to believe it.

I had Bible classes, and I was so gutted when we were only given the New Testament at the end.

I'll be there for you bro. Together we can watch the collision of the Andromeda galaxy with ours in all its glory.

You aren't alone. I don't want to be a "machine god" if it means the loss of what makes me human (pleasure, love, etc.), but I do fully support projects like The Manhattan Beach Project.

But the new testament has like half of the really interesting ones.
