Why arent we using solar cells everywhere?
Take sweden for example. Rich country, they can afford the first cost. Then they'd just win in it wouldnt they?

Swefag here. I'll tell you why.

Winter. During the winter we have temperatures of -20 degrees centigrade. Regularly. The sun shines between maybe 9 and 15. So you have 6 hours of sunlight each day to heat apartments, offices and so on, in -20 degrees.

Guess what. That's not enough energy.

It's true. Have you ever heard of midnight sun? Well, since we have that we get dark as fuck winters. This summer there were days where I could go outside at 2 o'clock and read. 2 o'clock in the morning. (This is pretty far north in Sweden though, it's not bright all day in the southern parts.)

During winter you get the opposite effect. Sunrise at maybe 9, sundown around 15. Feels bad man.

Uhhh 24 hour time?

Obviously. 24-hour clock, metric system master race.

Don't know how usable this would be to a non-Swede, but if you understand any of it you might get an idea of how dark winter can be here.

Found this:

p;afl=-11&day=1
And Stockholm is in the southernmost third of Sweden... It's even darker further north

-20C? That doesn't sound right. Last I checked the average coldest it gets in Sweden, in the depths of winter, is -6C.

>> No.1821492

Sweden sucks bro.

Conan agreed, don't bother him about it.

One day Finland will crush Sweden and wipe it from the face of the earth.

You must be from Skåne then. Average coldest? The coldest individual measurements during winter are usually in the -35 C to -40 C range. -15 C and -20 C are not uncommon where I live.

>> No.1821513

well i live in sweden, in stockholm, and here it gets no less than 20- every winter

Actually I don't even live in Europe. (North America, Vermont)

But I tend to pay attention to planetary characteristics.

True, you could be at the northern end, and the 'average' that I'm looking at could be considerably milder than the 'average' of your specific locale..

>>1821530
Yeah and I probably skew it a bit because you're biased to remember the really cold days. That said -20 C is not a freak occurrence. Solar energy would never be able to cope with that.

No, we Nordic people will someday make a crossbreed of every Nordic genetics and that superior race will rule the rest of the world while we original Nordics chill out in Agartha, the place where we should be already. Fuck yeah.

I don't know about large scale costs of solar energy but in my house we have about 15 m2 of termic solar pannels to heat water and shit. Four years ago that costd us around 800 dollars.

Now we're saving around 80% of the NCG bill and the first cost will be amortized in one year.
