If there is a God and an afterlife, then none of this is real, and as such does not matter.
If there is no God and no afterlife, and this is the only form of reality, then you will be dead within a century and none of this matters.

Submit to nothing.
Life is fleeting.
Don't spend it in fear.

>> No.1820297

or spend it in fear of what could happen and shape a better future for the next generation instead of being selfish and only fearing for yourself.

>> No.1820296

>dont spend it in fear

Spending it in apathy is soooo much better? You completely miss the meaning of life.

Pursue worthy goals.

>> No.1820298

Well what you wrote can be summarized in one word, nihilism, but cool picture. Saving it.

Who are you to say what is the meaning of life. You have no more authority than OP.

>> No.1820314

Actually, I do. I'm telling you to pursue worthy goals. That is entirely subjective. Do what makes you happy.

>> No.1820322

>>1820314
Oh I can agree. However, people have different meanings of happiness. Someone like OP might find entertainment in nihilist philosophy. And so on and so forth. It is entirely subjective.

Carl Sagan sums the meaning of life:

"We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself."

so..

without us the universe would be stupid and random

Keep on learning, my friends.

>> No.1820347

A life with a void of meaning is a void that is waiting to be filled by sentient life. If life reaches sentience, they may assign their own meaning to existence.
Long story short, life is what you make it.

>> No.1820357

>>1820333
The universe would not be "stupid and random" the universe would be exactly as it is. Also, this "without us" talk. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself, meaning I'm just as much a part of the natural world as the rocks outside my window. We are matter that has become self aware and we are now able to observe and study the very matter and universe that we are and are part of. We're essentially the universe's self observing matter.

He and OP have exactly the same amount of authority on a subjective non-defined topic (their authority is subjectively absolute.)

God:

You're good: Go to heaven, spend eternity worshiping.
You're bad: Go to hell, tortured for an eternity.

No god:
Cease to exist on death.
or
Exist as a disembodied consciousness that would be on par with eternal torture.

No matter what, you're fucked when you die. There is no good end. Enjoy life while you can.

>> No.1820378

>>1820296
apathy could be considered a response of fear. I've always defined laziness as a fear of involvement and that simplifies a lot about human behavior and to extend it even further you could define ignorance and apathy as automated products of that laziness/fear.

Would anyone truly be happy spending an eternity worshiping someone who will gladly dismiss you to damnation if you decide to stop?

We got rid of monarchies for a reason.

That's a nice fantasy, but it doesn't change we humans created the idea. Weather or not it is true is up for speculation. I would love to cling onto that idea as if it were real but I can't, I tried. I am a born atheist.

Heaven would have been a good idea if god wasn't portrayed to be such a jerk. I mean, the sex would probably be limited, and all our god-given dirty thoughts would immediately be picked out by Big Brother.

Damn, I'm glad that doesn't exist outside my nightmares.

I like the old shamanistic views on a potential afterlife, no big brother, just after this life we have the chance to learn more on top of what we have learned here, eventually making it to summer land, and beyond. Essentially having the chance to become gods in our own right of any degree we work towards.

Me if this happens, I will become a being of no moral boundaries, and have a lust for power.

He ain't alone, not all of us are holy creatures. I come from a family of murdering siblings and batshit insane mother, and father who would love to kill anyone that made his taxes go higher, he luuuvs money! I am the nicest of the family, I go out of my way to help others at no reward for my self, but I am still a demon, no matter what I do.

Sometimes, you just gotta accept, you have free will to do what you want with yourself, but some part of you is still evil. To some of us anyway.

I share those dreams of ever meeting a god, for my judgment would be great, no matter how I played out my life.

I chose to come here because things are going to change very quickly. Your entertainment is built so that you would associate ideas that come across you as silly. The only thing that is serious is money and death. Birds of a feather flock together, and that's why its best to make the new feather look silly.

Its a threat to national security to not believe in death.
