I think OP wants a program that neatly displays equations and mathematical notation. Mathematica is for computations and programming, and although you can insert symbols like delta, it's no substitute for an equation-oriented word processor.

That being said, OP, I'm sure something like that exists, but I have no specific suggestions.

have you heard of LaTeX (pronounced lay-tech or lah-tech), typsetting language great for equations. probbaly more hassle than its worth if you just need a few equations, but writing papers etc from scratch there is no better way IMHO.
i.e. to write intergral of x squared from 0 to 12 Dx would be (in latex code):
\int_0^{12} x^2 dx

if you only want one or two equations then you could do it on http://www.codecogs.com/latex/eqneditor.php and just insert the pictures in word. or you could check the website to see if latex is what you need
