2x^2-5=8
2x^2=13
x^2 =6.5
x= square-root of 6.5

what the fuck just happened

(sqrt(13))/2

divided both sides by two faggot

Sure.
2x^2-5=8
2x^2-5+5=8+5=13
(2x^2)/2=13/2
x^2=6.5
Sqr(6.5)=2.54950976
x=2.54950976.

>> No.1771875

2x^2 = 13
x^2 = 6.5
x = sqrt[6.5
x = 2.55

Really, iit is +-2.54950976
There are two answers.

>> No.1771889

Possible intermediate steps:
2 x^2-5 = 8
Add 5 to both sides:
2 x^2 = 13
Divide both sides by 2:
x^2 = 13/2
Take the square root of both sides:
x = -sqrt(13/2) or x = sqrt(13/2)

>> No.1771890

(2)*(x^2) - 5 = 8

everyone just did the math for you op for some reason, but that's just the separation based on how you should order your operations.
