Take time to explain things calmly and simply so that they can understand. Either they'll never bother you again with anything related to science or they'll slowly get themselves educated and respect you for that. Either way it's a win.

If you are full time employed then you should have found a job in a lab at a university or some other place you might enjoy (if you aren't smart enough for this then stop complaining about other people being dumb)

been trying, got a few good temp offers, jobs are thin on the ground here in the uk at the moment. I'm not complaining about people being dumb, just having to deal with them, trying to find a strategy that doesn't make me an asshole simultaneously.
