ok /sci/ tell me this plz.
I had something collide with a pendulum at rest, at 0 degrees (angle).
I did this test like 20 times and I have the average max angle.
I have the mass of the pendulum and the length of the string. I have neglible friction from the pivot point.

Can someone give me an equation to find kinetic energy or even force (newtons) using the length of string, the mass of the pendulum, and the max angle it achieved from the collision?
I know trigonometry comes into it somewhere.

thanx /sci/

I heard collide and pendulum, so I came as fast as I could.

Ohh, you want the Newtonian, Lagragain or Hamiltonina method?

>> No.1757220

Newtonian pls. Cmon ppls, I just want a straight answer here.
Is this /sci/? Or is it /tard/? :p

For a simple pendulum, the kinetic energy of the pendulum is equal to the gravitational energy it gained by rising from the equilibrium position to the position of maximum displacement. The kinetic energy is therefore equal to:

the mass of the pendulum multiplied by the acceleration due to Earth's gravity (9.81ms^-1) multiplied by the difference in height between the equilibrium position and the maximum.

The height gained is given by L (1 - cos x) where L is the length of the string, and x is the angle, so the kinetic energy is MgL(1-cos x)

Can someone check my working, I'm worried I might be misleading this poor anon due to being a moron.

You can just logic out the Newtonian method.
You start and I will tell you what you are doing wrong (guide you to the answer).

So where do you start from?
What do you know about this physical system?
What is conserved? What changes?

What kinda shitty ass job do you have that you are on on 4chan?

What kinda fucked up repressed society do you live in, that boobs affend you?

Have your coworkers never seen boobs before? Do then not know what a female body looks like?

This is called a "Vagina". Men put there "Penis" into it. All that "semen" you eat was once in your moms "vagina".

GTFO!
