Why do they teach Edison's history is schools. Edison was a complete douche bag and didn't actually invent anything. He stole the idea for the light bulb from a British inventor called Joseph Swan, who invented it and patented it many years before Edison did.
Edison publicly murdered animals with AC current to show how 'dangerous' it was, even though AC was actually safer.

>Edison offered Tesla $50,000 if he could invent a more efficient way of using electricity. He then said Tesla didn't understand American humour when he tried to claim his reward.
Edison confirmed for cunt

>Edison payed his employees to invent for him, while he stole the credit and made money out of his employees work.
Edison confirmed for not actually inventing anything

And he tried to invent a machine that would allow him to commune with the dead...

this is how all modern tech companies work.

Do you know where you are?
/sci/ that's where you are.
Do you know what that means?
[citation needed] On just about everything you said.
Because i'm not gonna believe it without evidence.

Not in quite the same way, modern companies credit the company while the owners get the money.

Edison credited himself and said 'he' invented it, he received all the royalties.

more importantly, edison invented modern tech companies. He founded the first research lab after which many important projects were modeled.

not sure what you mean by owners, you mean the owners of the company or do you think that the inventers own the patent?

engineers and scientists for most private companies get paid a salary and it is in their contracts that their patents discovered while on paid time are 100% property of the company.

Alright.

>Edison told him if he could do that he would give him a bonus of $50,000. Tesla worked day and night because the $50,000 would let him set up his own lab and work on his inventions. He came up with twenty-four new designs to replace the old ones of Edison's. Edison was delighted with the results but did not pay Tesla the $50,000 he had promised. When Tesla finally asked him about it, it is said that Edison told him, "Tesla, you don't understand our American humor."

It's difficult to find a trustworthy source saying that Edison just sat in his chair and didn't do anything, but if you read a bio on him it's very heavily implied.

Its because the American government censored anything that was considered dangerous by the time the cold war started
Tesla was a man that wanted to give free wireless electricity to people around the world, was born in the soviet bloc and did not reflect the enterprising extroverted entrepreneur image Americans admire, like Ford, Edison or J.P Morgan
He also wanted to create the death laser as a war deterrent so none of the nations could engage in war. However that would also impede the United States from taking resources from other nations. It is also the real reason why the US is working so hard so other countries won't have access to nuclear weapons.
