Complex ideas can be portrayed using visual representations. Even things that can't be seen, even things that don't have an exact visual structure, can still be portrayed using visual representations of concepts.

is making things easier to understand by using anologies and visuals "dumbing down the universe". sure, who the fuck cares. if it makes science more accessible to people who don't want to spend the next few years of their lives in physics class busting numbers then it has served its purpose. you can show the math alongside the dumbed down images and then you'd have a simple diagram to begin your understanding and then the math to complete an accurate understanding.

making things easier to understand isn't a bad thing.

I can tell op was in this physics thread earlier. There was a guy freaking out on someone who said he was going to try and get a gist of quantum field theory. The freaking out guy was a university student who insisted that the only way to understand at all was by getting a masters degree and that its impossible to explain some concepts using visuals and that to do so was a terrible "faggy" thing.
