how come that we dont feel the earth spinning?
is the centrifugal force creating gravity, in part?
if itd stop spinning gradually over 10 years whatd happen?

BECAUSE WE, AND EVERYTHING AROUND US IS MOVING (IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF) JUST AS FAST.

NO, CENTRIFUGAL FORCE IS NOT A COMPONENT OF GRAVITY.

IF IT SLOWED DOWN SLOW ENOUGH, DAYS WOULD GET LONGER AND LONGER UNTIL THEY CORRESPONDED EXACTLY TO OUR YEARS, AND SEASONS WOULD CEASE TO EXIST.

IF YOU MEAN LOCKED, SUCH THAT ONE SIDE ALWAYS FACED THE SUN, THAT SIDE WOULD COOK INDEFINITELY WHILE THE OTHER SIDE FROZE UNDER A PERMANENT NIGHT.

PRETTY SURE THIS IS RIGHT...

We do feel it spinning. Gravity is slightly lower at the equator than the poles.

>> No.1686260

>>1686257
Wouldn't that be negated by the fact there's more mass equator to equator than pole to pole? Around 23km more, I believe.

>>1686260
The gravity is less, the pressure is less, the height is greater, the density is less. You have the same mass all the way around.

somewhat related, and I'm really sleep deprived right now so I probably mix things up, but:

why is the equator relevant in space launches and geostationary orbits? if you know what I'm getting at.
