The Government has agreed to fund and staff 5 science or engineering related projects to completion with a little left over to initially expand on whatever the project leads to. The projects have to be something currently being researched/developed. You may also include 1 or 2 sentences describing why you chose a certain project.

Let's see what you can come up with /sci/

If you can't think of any, go to a science news website, squat over your monitor and use your dick as a divining rod (note: for some of you, your dicks may be too small to tell what it's pointing at)

>> No.1669356

1) Fusion-electric plants
2) Space elevator.
3) Cure for cancer.
4) A permanent base on Mars following Mars Semi Direct.

2)Glycation endproducts in mammalian connective tissue

3)Engineered genetic repair mechanisms in mammalian somatic cells

4)don't know

5)don't know

>> No.1669383

1) Upgrade and update all infrastructure (powergrid, water systems, internet, transportation, etc....)

2) Room-temp superconductors

3) Effects of microgravity on self-assembly of nanoparticles and other nanofabrication techniques

2. Black Hole Generator
3. Big Net

>> No.1669387

1) Fusion
2) Infrastructure
3) Infrastructure
4) Infrastructure
5) Duke Nukem Forever

>> No.1669396

1. Stem Cell research (lol not happening in my country).
2. AI, great for decrypting information and solving logic problems.
3. A way way to screen sperm and eggs for genetic deficits, fully funded by the government and available to everyone free of charge(idk if this is being researched but it should be).
4. Infrastructure revamp with better land management practices(including the creation of more national parks).
5. Human sustainability in space using an artificial biosphere.

>> No.1669403

1) Portable fission generators
2) Fusion power plants
3) Reusable VTOL space vehicles capable of free space flight and sustaining a crew of 5 for a month
4) Modular planetary colonies
5) Internet hubs in space

That about sums it up

>> No.1669410

1) Manhattan Beach Project
2) ITER
3) Space elevator
4) Manned mission on colonization to Mars, with a small group also realistically planning on easy ways to terraform (Hey I wanna see if Phobos-crashing would work)
5) Start mining space for minerals once No. 3 is completed

>> No.1669453

>>1669410
Flip three and five.
It'll be a lot easier to build the alevator if you get your carbon from space and don't have to lug it up from the ground.

>> No.1669488

Move asteroid into orbit, mine, and then construct elevator down to the planet?

>> No.1669517

>>1669488
it's the only way it can be done with any economy

After all, the ribbon or tether making up the spine can't be propped up from earth. It needs to hang down from the orbital station.

>> No.1669532

>>1669517

I suppose alternatively the cable could generate power from the friction of moving through the atmosphere, aside from any solar arrays on the space side of things.

>> No.1669555

Nuclear fusion research facility (5km tokamak). Nuclear fusion would provide virtually clean, virtually limitless power, completely remove the need for oil (thus cutting pollution) and providing a power source capable of sustaining us on a variety of fuels for many thousands of years.
HEO space station (counter rotating disks to simulate gravity) Testing feasibility of artificial gravity, advancing human space colonisation
Mars base (dome) Same as space disks, testing feasibility/advancing human space colonisation
<100,000 quibit quantum array. Virtually limitless processing power allowing for virtually any simulation. artificial intelligence made possible
finally:BUSSARD FUCKING RAMJETS

>> No.1669565

>>1669403
1 and 5 are already done, they are already investing in 2

1)titan probe
2)integration and expansion of epoch style headsets and voiceless phonecalls
3)its about fucking time we got that asteroid pusher that we've been talking about for years
4)(fuck a cure for cancer) how about curing one of the many diseases we have already done away with in the west around the rest of the world, malaria n such
5)high temp superconductors

>> No.1669572

>>1669555
nice pipe dream you got there.
quantum computers don't work that way.
we would still need oil to power cars
bussard ramjets are a long way away.
space colonization will be subject to radiation. mutant DEAD people don't make great pioneers.
