Aspergers syndrome that is diagnosed before the invention of wikipedia is real. IRL aspies typically aren't dickheads, but are rather simply very withdrawn.
Imagine full autism, but without the ability to retreat into your own personal world in your head. That's what genuine aspies go through.

Aspergers is as real as ADHD was 10-15 years ago.

There are a vanishingly small minority of legit cases, but most of it is just being parents and authority figures being lazy and slapping the social outcasts with a disorder, making things even worse.
