Just sever the brain from the spine by inserting a chisel between the skull and the spine and giving it a good whack.

Then make a circular cut in the skull at or just above the brow. Use a circular saw and a depth-of-cut of about one-half inch.

I don't remember if you need to sever the optical nerves too or if they sever with a good tug or not.

This works on apes at least, so I shouldn't think the operation is that much different for a human.
