This man lost his life in the quest for knowledge! He wished to find out of stuffing a chicken with ice very quickly would delay putrification, so he bought and killed a chicken on winter day, stuffed it full of snow, and in the process contracted pneumonia and died of it.

He died in the quest for knowledge, though he probably could have planned that one a little better.
