A European Honeybee leaves its hive to collect pollen. While it's gone, a pest control company comes to remove the hive and all of the bees present. The bee returns to find an absent hive.

What would a bee do in this situation?

freak the fuck out

Seeing that a bee isn't even conscious of its own existence, it will attempt to search for the nest. It will fail, and die.

there not conscious?

>there
It's they are
they're
And not 'really' conscious, but very much bound to their hardcoded operating system.

>>1629745
nope. They have no conscious thought. They don't even know they are alive.

some guy, whose name I forgot, did a similar experiment with a type of wasp that catches live prey and hides it in his hole at home, but only after checking the hole first.

so the thing drops its prey, goes into the hole to check, the guy picks up the prey, and places it at a different spot.

wasps comes out, no prey, it looks around confused, sees a "new" prey, and goes back down the hole, with the guy displacing it once again.

Same thing happened over and over and over, til he got bored.

They don't think much, they simply have tasks and shit.

Similar to how we know what it's like to be a toddler, and a dog, yada yada. MRIs and shit to see how human brains develop from infancy and onward, and other stuff like that, and comparing it to dogs, yada yada, and finally bees, which basically don't even have brains in comparison.

Which is basically the same thing we do, only what we do is more complex.

it makes you wonder if there is a level of consciousness that we have not achieved yet
