Just read up on the various dozen recessions that have occurred in the US over the decades and why they happened. Also read up on all the wars the US has been in and what, exactly, lead up to them. The US has been at war with hundreds of different countries around the world since the 1700s. It's all there, man. In the history books and encyclopedias. Just don't stick to a single US history book from high school, look up the text book's sources and go from there.
