In places like /vg/ I prefer not having IP counts because I like to act like multiple different people in response to another anons post. It showers them with attention when they deserve it and it lets me explore multiple dialogues at the same time. It's an experience I enjoyed all the way back to the OG days on /b/. Basically, I'm arguing that there's a "good" kind of samefagging. In addition, I believe in the self-sorting nature of an anonymous image board with minimal tools. In the exact opposite of reddit or twitter, here consensus and identity is irrelevant, only truth and controversy. If your ideas are bad, people can just call you the names fake and gay. The only weakness the format has ever had is spamming and bots, and that's more about the limitation of bot filters than it is about the rest of the board. So hurrah to the death of IP counts. I've never stopped samefagging, but now I don't have to do a few extra steps of changing my IP to make it believable.

Because for every thread in which someone is a samefagging retard in the first half a dozen or so posts and doesn't spend a few seconds switching IPs, there are fifty threads in which some other retards draw the wrong inferences from a high IP count that doesn't increment (said retards can't distinguish between samefagging and someone else who's already posted in the thread making another post).
I approve of this move to deprive schizos of one of their favorite tools. The IP count never stopped samefagging except by the most technically clueless of people.
