Apparently, it's saving coral reefs. I've heard growing up that coral reefs are the most diverse parts of the Earth. Without them, the biodiversity of oceans would collapse.

Canada and Siberia are literally unused.

All we have to do is sacrifice places like India, who are closer to the equator or other risk-facing places. Who cares? India is full of shit rivers anyway. Nigeria needs to be cut down a size. Canda and Siberia are well-watered open country for the white man, and realistically a bunch of high IQ chinks.

Whats up with this myth that warm weather makes low latitude locations uninhabitable? Places near the equator are not even all that hot to begin with, the warmest places on the planet are outside of the topics because during their summers they have short nights and long days. I'm a bit skeptical about that. Coral have been around for more than 500million years and CO2 has been at least up to 2000-3000ppm for several times with flourishing reefs. Ocean temperatures were also considerably higher.
I'd suspect if we stopped dumping fertilizer and pesticide runoff and general sewage into coastal waters, they'd be just fine with 1000ppm CO2 and 3°C warmer ocean water

>> No.15926484

>>15926442
I think the problem is moreso the rate at which things are changing. Given time the corals could form mutualistic relationships with microorganism that remain productive at higher temperatures (when they're not, they're kicked out, causing bleaching).
As for the pH, I don't that will kill them but it will make them grow more slowly.

What scientists care about it the amount of diversity of coral in the ocean. Climate change has intensely selected coral species which are more heat tolerant, but in the process it has wiped out a lot of diversity in the reefs. Ultimately the bulk amount of coral in the ocean is irrelevant if the climate is going to get hot enough in the future that Corals wont have the ability to adapt, since their genepool is exhausted.

In the near term we'll see a drop in biodiversity. However in the long term we'll most likely see most mammalian species recede and get smaller on average (including humans), and perhaps see large galloping crocodilians or massive turtles as the warmbloods die from the heat. Once the glaciers are gone it'll be the age of reptiles.

It isn't because that's not what causes coral bleaching. Coral bleaching is caused by increases in temperature. If you poison coral it simply dies. When you increase its temperature the algae which live in the reef flee which causes bleaching. This is proof that nobody in this thread has a shred of education and just passes around information they don't understand.

>>15924437
So, OP I looked up your source. This is a huge amount of misinformation. SOME of the Great Barrier Reef has the most coral seen in 36 years. So some assholes at the Washington Post, a known right wing propaganda newspaper published an article with a misleading title which makes sure that people like you fall for it and make threads like this in their behalf. Meanwhile the reef in the south is still dying off and has shown a decrease of 34% of its total volume.

The reef is essentially migrating north. The south is dying, the north is expanding. If you think this doesn't prove climate change you're a hopeless idiot.
