How were global temperatures able to fall dramatically between 1940 & 1970 at the same time that atmospheric CO2 was increasing? What was the factor involved in this process that caused the cooling? Clearly, whatever it was, it is more potent at influencing temperatures than CO2 is.

because CO2 doesn't have a meaningful impact on temperatures, atmospheric temperatures rise and fall cyclically due to other more potent factors, its irrational to attribute any substantial influence on the climate to CO2 since it is a vanishingly minuscule trace gas
