The whole argument is undone by Japan, who were a Western great power 40-50 years after colonization attempts by America and clapped Russia. They came shockingly close to winning in WWII as well, which they hadn't even planned on; they had the advantage at Midway and without some unforced goofs and luck for America could have dealt a serious blow. Some cultures and peoples are simply superior to others. Some, like Japan or Europeans, thrive, others bitch and whine. Japan actually did it twice, bizarrely over the same time frame.

The only thing that science is more aligned with the left on is Climate Change because RWers were manipulated by oil companies by way of lingering libertarian sympathies and contrarianism. Most evidence points towards race science being accurate, most evidence points towards the sudden rise in gender dysphoria cases being the product of social contagion, most evidence points towards markets being the most efficient economic sorting algorithm, etc.. India had massive numbers of people. When almost everyone is living off of subsistence farming, "gdp" or any other proxy measure for economic activity is going to be effectively a gauge of the number of people farming and over what land.
It was never, at any point, the most advanced or wealthy/capita civilization on the planet. It was always a shithole, slightly better than sub-saharan Africa (except for the period of European rule over Africa, where many of those countries were wealthier than even Korea and Spain). We then of course see the great divergence between high IQ races such as Europeans and East Asians, and lower-IQ races such as Indians, Arabs, Africans, Natives etc.

China was economically on par with subsaharan Africa until the mid 1990s, when the economic impacts of allowing Wall Street to use China as it's offshore industrial part free from labor and environmental laws kick started the Chinese economy. Asians aren't any better than Africans, if Wall Street had decided to use Africa rather than China for industrial production then Africa would've seen the economic growth and China would still be dirt poor.

As much as I like Japan you need to stop wanking them. Japan was pretty much babystep through their own moderm technological development by the Dutch for several centuries starting in 1639.

Which is a much different experience than what India or Africa experienced from Europeans who wanted the land and resources instead. If Europeans approached Indians and Africans (probably either Nigerians or Ethopians) in a similar manner to the Japanese they would have been on a similar path of modern development.

Britain did not colonise India until much much later. The East India company began the process of colonising in the mid 1700s (18th century) but India was brought under the British Empire in 1857 after the rebellion against the East India Company.

Newton published his Principia in 1687 long long before that.
