Every "pandemic" and epidemic so far this century has been a fraudulently contrived media hoax created for the purpose of selling flu shots. The "news" stories on TV and in the newspapers are just thinly disguised advertising, newspapers charge about $2000-$10000 each for a "front page news" story

I would imagine that the older ones were no different. The idea that a written record is an account of "reality" is a culture-bound syndrome. Everyone but Anglos wrote things down for various other reasons, records of "the plague" are most likely the result of cities copying stories from each other simply to partake in the form of Literature, just as they otherwise copied statues of gargoyles from each other to partake in the form of Architecture, the idea of there ever having been a "real" plague being as tenuous as the idea of there ever having been a "real" gargoyle.
