It's over. I didn't make it, Kagami.

What did you study? I'm in the analytical side of an EE PhD program and spend a lot of time with math/applied majors. It seems like your job prospects depend a lot of what you studied/researched and how applicable it is to industrial problems.

Applied or Pure?
What is your specialization.
The NSA will probably hire you if you know cryptography, I think they have the most money to blow on hiring.

It's actually 300k starting and thats only if you studied finance and you get hired as a quant trader at a hedge fund also 300k is just from the signing bonus.

Topological methods are used in data analysis. Though I guess that's mostly in academia, I don't know if industry has much use for that.

You realize that you’re expected to do math yes?
Society gave you a math PhD. Almost 3 years later you should be on the verge of a major breakthrough in mathematics. You’re a doctor of math. Are you telling me you haven’t spent the last 3 years doing your own personal mathematical research and posting your results to build a public persona? What the fuck do you expect us to do?

There's a lot of topological methods used in path planning and mapping for industrial/military robotics. That's still very R&D oriented though.

You're right, I completely forgot about that. My advisor for my bachelor thesis was a topologist and also did some research in robotics.

Getting a PhD is such midwit trap.
If you worked with something industry relevant and are familiar with analytical instruments and data analysis that carries over into industry then it's great but if you're doing something too esoteric/lab monkey shit where you rely on technicians to hand you all your data it's basically over. Barely better than a HS diploma.

>> No.15879647

If you have programming experience you need to really highlight that. If you don't, then go look for jobs for mathematicians and see what they're asking for, then learn. I'm in bioinformatics (PhD in biology) and the field isn't doing well right now, lots of layoffs and downsizing by companies. Hopefully everything starts to recover next year, stay strong anon.
