if recessive traits like blue eyes and blonde hair became prevalent due to them being most desired / attractive traits, then why the fuck didn't freckles do the same. it's an adaption for light skinned people to have protection against sunlight, meaning not having it is a disadvantage. seeing somebody without freckles should produce the same slight disgust reaction as seeing somebody genetically inferior, yet it has been reviled throughout history as being hideous.

Because freckles only appear in response to persistent UV damage to protect further against it, it's not attractive. That would be like finding scabs and callouses hot, which is why freckles are historically disgusting. plus only strong freckling is rare, most fair skinned european whites have weak freckles in their DNA but don't live anywhere sunny enough for them to be a permanently developed feature. Americans only seem to have a low concentration of freckles due to the genetic mess.
