The crispr/cas9 project will solve all of humanity's problems, if it succeeds of course.

*anon's* law:
Every time a scientific or technological advancement is said to revolutionize humanity it is not true.

This is my law call it by my name: *anon*

It's very literally already been successfully done on humans, do you not remember the 2018 scandal?

why does everyone have such absolutely cucked attitudes on this?

Cas9 gene editing in eukaryotes is a bitch to do since we still need to rely on the cells using the homology directed repair mechanism to successfully integrate the DNA sequence we want to integrate and homology directed repair does not happen a lot outside of meiosis so high failure rate.

and yet I'm still looking for alternatives for germline modification in previtellogenic eggs
unless you're doing IVF, you're not going to get at the perfect time point to modify the entire genome
even if you get cas9 placed in the ZP for modifying sperm, the collection of that protein within that space can easily make the egg infertile. using a vector and hooking a retrotransposon into a maternal effect gene might work, esp with self-fertilizing reptiles and when insects lay
once it's in the genome you can use gene drives or whatever with cas9, but you'll have a bitch of a time trying to modify the entire embryo when you can't fertilize it yourself

Elaborate? I don't know what you mean by this but putting retrotransposons into the genome just sounds like breeding cancer to me

CRISPR/Cas9 could unironically abolish all forms of suffering. There's no reason why you couldn't genetically engineer everyone to be ridiculously happy all the time.

There's no such thing as genetic engineering, it's called genetic 'editing', faggots.

The only thing capable of solving humanity's problems is a dongfeng missile with a nuclear payload
