As an engineer, I really believe the entire math education system in secondary institutions needs to be defunded.

Everything after calc 2 quickly drops off in value. Differential equations, shapes and cryptography are useful, but there's definitely a lot of bad math.

That's the thing. In the real world math is a good estimate but does not account for the real world. Sure there's perturbation theory, but that's also just an estimate.

The fact us the average person will never need math beyond algebra. Solving equations is archaic, and is dodged with spreadsheets and coding.

Modern math is basically done with a digital addiator. The instructions use a gimmick with addition and relationship tables to make a lot of other operators expedient.

If you're not using those in your kind of work, you're doing something wrong. Furthermore, maths is just a tool. They will come in handy someday for the problem you may be trying to solve. Eg, take a look at differential equation, that shit was the very dry when we were taught. But it turns out, if you can reformulate your problem into one of the well known DEs eg Bessel DE, your problem is solved because Bessel DE is very well studied. Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, one those who can think hard enough.

engineering is cucked math, you have to adapt to the ""real world"" and it's more about what can you afford to do with the little money and people available, in a world that's going to shit
with math you can choose to do that, if you want
or you can choose to live in your own world, and not care about any of those annoying cringe politics and just do something you like (same with physics more or less) (more less than more)

That's where comp sci comes into play. Mathematics is the basis yes but there's a lot of clever algorithms under the hood that makes it all work where just knowing proofs won't help you with real life applications
