Post about how much we love math

>> No.15794718

I hate math because I got filtered by it.

>> No.15794731

I hate math so much. It is the biggest obstacle on my way. I can study and learn anything, but math is always there waiting for me to jump out of the bushes and kick me in the nuts. Oh, computer science? Fuck you, get the math! Hmm, what's that, genetics? Math right in your face, faggot! Maybe I can avoid math in human anatomy? No fucking way! When I was a kud I cried because of math. When I was a teen I raged because of math. Now as an adult i fall into despair because of math. I hate this shit. I spend a week to learn and understand a collection of formulas, visualize them, intuitively understand them. Through much pain and humiliation. And then I forget it! How the fuck?

These, I'm a fucking wizz up until calculus. I actually had a barrel in my mouth one day because I could not do a single problem right the entire semester of calculus I took. I then had the "this just isn't for you" talk by the professor, It would've been murder suicide if I hadn't left my gun at home that day. Genetics are cruel, I still hold out in hopes AI will free us from our shitty code.

Math is easily breakable :
...999.999... = 0

A)
1/9 = 0.111111...
2/9 = 0.222222...
etc.
8/9 = 0.888888...
9/9 = 0.9999999... = 1

B)
k....000000 = 0
k....000000 - 1 = -1
(k-1)....999999 = -1
Rule for any ADIC numbers :
...999 = -1

A) and B) :
0.999... = 1
...999 = -1

Then :
...999 + 0.999... = 1 - 1
...999.999... = 0

Shows that you aren't familiar with the prerequisites. This is a very common problem. School and college math is structured in such a way that skipping math when you are 12 or 14 will eventually catch up with you when you are 16 or 18. Calculus is nothing but algebra coupled with a few simple ideas, and you can ignore these ideas as long as you understand the algebra. And guess what - algebra is not part of a calculus curriculum.
>Genetics are cruel
Oh, you are one of *those*. Nevermind, carry on.

Same here, brother. I just don't see the point of studying math in general. Any mathematics I might need for a specific application, I will learn them. But studying math in general, just to never actually use it and forget it a year later seems like a waste of time. It's interesting, all the things that people can do with it, but unless I'm doing those things, algebra is all I need most of the time.

Can you program? If yes then you can math, because a programming space is like a simulation of a mathematical world. Math is about understanding math, it doesn't have to be intuitive every time and you don't have to see how it maps to the real world all at once. Genetics is probability, and probability is logic puzzles. So get a few difficult questions with answers and reason your way through them. Look out for the difference in very formal math and physics like math. In uni courses these two are mingled heavily and it leads to confusion. Most importantly math is the most difficult subject a human can encounter, humans think imperatively as in a -> b -> c. But math is declarative, it makes statements, not precedures.

I don't think stuff like Markov's chain is anyhowly possible to encapsulating truth in biological processes. The area is now noise for you, and more you discover, more signal it will be. I on genetic algorythms wouldn't be about probability and random, but about signal detection and clarification, then signal processing without memorylessness of states, but genetics being a memory. Then we can find effectors causing genetic change.
