>professor asks a pretty basic question to the class
>waits in silence as no one speaks up
>professor raises tone and asks again aggressively
>professor calls on random person to answer it

wat compels them to do this

The teacher is involuntarily celibate. If no one answers a question, a normal teacher explains it better or moves on.

>> No.15764531

as a teacher, you want to engage your class. learning isn't a passive exercise. also, the feedback is important.

but my question is more about the aggressive tone leading into the random calling. doesn't really seem necessary. also sure learning isn't a passive exercise but that's why I study a lot, is it necessary to verbally participate in this way to learn?

Its better to find mistakes the teacher made and correct them.

Now youre hated for telling the Truth...just like Jesus.

For all your teacher knows, the class could be being silent because nobody knows the answer. In that case, he needs to back up and explain things better. If you actually understand everything and are sending signals that you're a retard who needs shit explained ten times before you get it, you're making him do unnecessary work. Thus the grumpiness. Obviously he should understand the students' perspective and try to control his emotions about it, but he's human too.

what do you mean define necessary, shouldn't you define Nothing? define Define? just google the word, this is standard english
>>15764554
this is sort of my problem. I see what the professor is trying to accomplish and I often work with them. i understand the cadence pretty well and I don't answer every question defeating the purpose but I feel like I am shielding my classmates a bit as well by doing this so that they might feel more comfortable. though it is getting a little too much. i think i'm going to stop participating like that

The purpose of university "education" isn't to gain knowledge. It's an exercise in obedience. Remember, the economy needs obedient workers and not lazy but smart theoreticians. Humiliation rituals like the one described by OP are a proven method of establishing obedience.

In the year 1940 the average college graduate iq was between 115 and 125.
The average iq in the USA is now 93 on average and you have 80 iq retards graduating from high school. Don't blame yourself for this, just a natural consequence of making college more easily available, the GI bill, and the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965

I'm a lecturer. At the end of the semester, the students are supposed to creatively apply what they have learned to a project of their choice. The only restriction is that the project has to fit the curriculum in any way.
You have no idea how much they struggle with this. Especially pajeets.

I am a teacher at a maritime collage (yes I am a total loser) and if no one answer my questions i usually ask the lazy and stupid students. When they fail and say something retarded I use that as stepping stone for repetition of important topics.
