tl;dr preamble and background:
~I am a 130 IQ+ polymath and master of STEM holding two interdisciplinary masters of science covering the apex of several interrelated fields. Both include artificial intelligence and one probes the base level of reality. I am on track for Oppenheimer tier. The fact you obsess about 'scores' in job applications tells me you have never even had an internship, leave a real job, as you would realise 'academic credentials' are nothing more than a small check-box in an automated filtering system, and once you get over that hurdle the only thing between you and employment is being able to sell your experience (which will cover far more skills needed for all STEM jobs than grade-inflated daycare centres).

But you are right it is multitudes of times more difficult and competitive to get a job at Deloitte than take the path of least resistance due to a weak professional profile so stay into grad school where they admit almost everyone who applies to work minimum wage in their labs.

My friend saw the icon and, not knowing what Catalyst was, made the assumption that it stood for can't contain cum. So he asked me "What's Klondom Control Centre?"

Something like 80% of all peer reviewed papers don't benefit the humanity and basically exist for the sake of existing. Trying to get a PhD thereby is a waste of effort, time, and money, because the probability that the research you do and the paper you write, having a meaningful impact on the world is practically non-existent.

Bachelor's is enough to get your foot into the door, then you gain experience within the real world, go back for your masters, come back and gain even more experience, and then maybe go for a PhD if you really want that doctor title. But a straight PhD is a bridge to nowhere and generally worthless.
