Lex Fridman is likely the most intelligent person in human history.
You may be thinking that this award goes to Einstein, Galileo, Da Vinci etc. but the difference is that Lex has lived in an Era with infinite access to information. Not only is Lex an undeniable genius in Science (ai, machine learning), math and history (incredible knowledge of historical events) he also has an incredible emotional understanding in things like love and the human condition. To add a cherry on top, he's ALSO a music prodigy (Google him playing guitar while self-driving).

These genius capabilities and understandings, coupled with access to the internet make Lex more than likely the most intelligent human to have ever existed, and his podcast demonstrates this. I can't wait to see what he does next.

can't say much about bjj, but in judo a brown belt in 5 years is considered a decent but achievable speedrun for an average person. bjj is a little bit macdojo-ish, so it may be a little easier. why people waste the same amount of time at the gym, when they could get jacked, and compete, and have combative skills is beyond me. that's something absolutely within normal persons range.

as for the rest, it's a good synergy - teaching and lecturing prepares you for public speaking, being on the entrepreneurial side is kinda expected from phds - runnning projects, getting grants, depends on the specifics, but 1 in 5, 1 in 20 of guys in a department get delegated to doing that. it's not that he had to switch between contexts, he basically does what his job description says.

It's just false humility. Black belt in BJJ is far harder to reach (again, in real gyms, not mcdojos) than any other mainstream martial art that uses that grading system.
>and that most of its reputation comes from the karate craze
Not at all, BJJ became a huge thing when one of the gracies ("founders" of the sport, basically stole a bunch of shit from judo and kind of improved it) won the UFC and continued to have a strong presence afterwards. The UFC Is now the biggest fighting promotion on earth, not to mention the biggest representative of MMA. And right there BJJ proved itself as the skill to have if one wanted to win.

Let me tell you how their system works: if you're her height or below, you're 5'2. If two men are standing in a room, the taller one is 6'3 and the shorter one is 5'5. This is all you need to know.

>"Socialism is an ancient Aryan, Germanic institution. Our German ancestors held certain lands in common. They cultivated the idea of the common weal. Marxism has no right to disguise itself as socialism. Socialism, unlike Marxism, does not repudiate private property. Unlike Marxism, it involves no negation of personality, and unlike Marxism, it is patriotic."
