How do you visually distinguish the difference between a diamagnet and the Meissner effect?

I'm starting to think there's no way for us to identify the diffisherence in all these twitter screencaps, nyaa~...

by looking at the behaviour around the critical temperature
it should levitate below it, and not levitate above it
superconductors become perfect diamagnets below their critical temperatures

>> No.15614435

>>15614424
i.e. heat it to 127C (or whatever the critical temperature is), let it cool down and see if it starts floating (of course you need to have a strong magnet too)

https://youtu.be/HRLvVkkq5GE?t=61

timestamp shows it, diamagnetism "turns on" when the superconductor gets cold enough

It depends on the context. If it's over, then you can visually conclude that it's diamagnetic. However if we're back then obviously it's the meissner effect. also gas faggots

Meissner effect makes a material suddenly become diamagnetic at specific temperatures. All superconductors are diamagnetic but the only do so at the temperature when the Meissner effect "turns on" aka when they actually become superconducting

Turn it upside down. If it falls, it's diamagnetic, if it just hangs there it is Meissner.
