I've seen picrel being posted on /sci/ in the past as a curriculm of self study for mathematics.

What are some other examples similar to this? Doesn't have to be a picture, can be just text or anything else, but what in your opinion is a good "curriculm" of sorts for self-study of any specific subject? Can be for any science or math related field, but please abstain from posting philosophy and other /lit/ subjects.

So I would have to study ALL of that? That's seems excessive. I mean I stopped at calculus for mathematics, but I know people with bachelors in math that haven't had to take as many classes as the books on there. I had thought about getting into math again just because of personal interest, but If it's that much corsework after Calc, I'm good lol.

I didn't make this, but I think for the ones at the bottom at least, you just choose one. Not all of them. If you go through 7-9 books, not an unusual number of math classes for undergrad math bachelors, you should be good imo.

It's quite an insane list. Somehow it has graduate level algebraic geometry, but not a single book on probability.

this is a pretty typical course path for a math undergrad or early grad student

>>15604574
pure math course paths usually do not include probability. There are students in my grad program who have never touched it.

These lists are always silly. If you did DF cover to cover you'd be able to do research in the field of algebra. Lang is redundant. It could easily take you over a year to get through DF and understand whats happening though. People who main algebra are the weirdest people though and there is a lot of elitism.

Also not learning category theory before getting into alg top or commutative alg is just going to make your life harder.

What's the equivalent list for an applied math course

I could type one out for Physics, but then again, If I am going to put in that much effort, might as well put a little more and make a diagram like your picrel. I'll do it if there's some demand though, like do you even want it or no? otherwise it's useless.

My field is pure math so i dont know specifically what the course path for applied is but ODE's, PDE's, numerical analysis, optimization, and probability are considered more on the applied side but of course there is tons of overlap. Applied people at my school do a lot more programming and modelling than the pure people. They're also generally more socially competent than the pure math people.
