Replace Principles of Neural Science with the 6th edition and add Molecular Biology of the Cell 7th edition

I considered this one, but I chose to put Essential Cell Biology there instead

Fair enough, its probably much easier to digest. I haven't actually read essential cell biology desu. Just note that without a good understanding of molecular biology it can be kind of hard to get through principles of neural science. Btw I think there's a 6th edition out for essential cell biology

>>15600672
yeah, you might be right
regarding the editions, I put the one I was most familiar with instead of searching for the latest cover

>> No.15600728

>>15600720
When they make new editions they usually don't change anything fundamental, they just add new information. Mol. Biology 6th and 7th edition are almost identical, for example.

I second this, molecular biology of the cell is best in breed.

Netter's is better than Gray's. There's a 3rd main class of anatomy books, forget who that was. Netter's has a nice multi-volume release.

TAOCP per knuth covers CS // compilers // algos

robbins and cotran is the canonical human path book

also get some physics / chem / biochem and lose the memebooks like fight club and art of war

Well, it’s the bible of electronics. It has every possible circuit you would need and explains how they work.

What exactly does that mean? This just seems like a random assortment of books with no specific purpose or goal behind them

Also, I see nobody else in this thread posting any one of those "textbook" charts for different subjects. Some are really cool and helpful, so why not generalize and post your own as well anons.

NTA but I think the general purpose of this chart might be books that are important for developing a knowledge of the world and your critical thinking skills. Some of them are a little random but the biology/anatomy/neurology books are important for understanding yourself and other people as well as life in general, maths computer science books important for developing logic, philosophy and law books good for understanding society and the self.

>> No.15603658

>>15603570
I think in that case it's a pretty bad chart.

OP, I'm being real with you. If you haven't already read those books, it shouldn't be your aim to read them for some special knowledge. Most of them are useless for a general knowledge of the world.

as you have guessed, this is a half meme textbook chart covering a few topics + some meme books to balance with the actual textbooks so don't take it too seriously
there are plenty of "serious" charts on /sci/ with worse selection so I decided to make this one
>the PPH
that's for the "and beyond" part

>> No.15603817

they might not be useful for a "general knowledge of the world", but as >>15603570 said, they are useful to understand how computers and life work.
I'd say it's important to understand your biology and the devices you use on a daily basis
