Climate change doesn't matter because future generations will have to deal with the brunt of it

>> No.15536727

we probably already have the technological solutions to solve climate change, they're just not deployed at the scale necessary

>> No.15536738

>>15536727
Absolutely. High powered weaponry is very old technology by now, it just shoulda been used properly.

>> No.15536743

If climate change was a real threat, governments would begin to regulate the oil industry and the war industry. Since they don't do this and instead only restrict citizens' freedom, we can be fairly sure that climate change is not a big threat.

>> No.15536775

>>15536743
it would first need to be true that the government would be aware that climate change is a threat and be aware how urgent it is

Even in the worst case climate scenarios the IPCC still predicts the average quality of life for people to continually increase throughout the 21st century. We might not even hit those scenarios. As some land becomes unarable other land will become arable.
It's fucked for civilizational stability, it'll add a lot more variables to our living and eating arrangements worldwide, more variable crop yields, more migration due to flooding, but it won't destroy us by any means, just make us less comfy than we otherwise would be.

Well, governments are the ones propagating this narrative when they force us to live in the pod, eat the bugs, own nothing and never leave the 15 minute city. It's all necessary to fight climate change, allegedly. Meanwhile Exxon, BP, Boeing and Lockheed Martin have no restrictions to fear and can continue to blow gigatons of CO2 in the atmosphere.

>> No.15536781

northern hemisphere is going to be safe at least in our lifetime. there's a drop in the ground water levels, but it's mostly due to the agricultural and industrial consumption.

extreme weather events are going to get more frequent, the main concern there is maritime operations, but it's already being accounted for, when building installations. no biggie.

places like africa, where water is already a problem, they're going to get massively fucked. we're talking famine, migrations, all of that within the next 20-30 years.

the causes, if it's man made or not, the possible solutions, aren't even talked about at the level of research organizations. it's in the hands of politicians, and their advisory bodies. we're just a clean up crew.

Friendly reminder that "personal carbon footprint" was literally invented by BP. In the early 2000's BP invested a billion dollars into a propaganda/marketing campaign to blame climate change on the consumer instead of the oil industry.

what bug eating propaganda lol
if you're talking about news articles promoting insect-based foods those were probably PR articles paid by the startups themselves to promote their companies

does it mean owning nothing but having access to publicly available goods sort of like public libraries work but for tools, bikes etc

>> No.15536914

Cars are irrelevant for climate emissions, in particular in EU. It's just another anti-consumer measure to hide and protect the real culprits.

Problems like water, food, and energy shortage will become a problem long before climate change will have a significant impact on civilization.

Regardless of how fast climate change is impacting Earth, it doesn't ultimately doesn't matter. Even the people that claim to care about the environment won't do anything meaningful or be able to. It's all for profit, virtue signaling, and "environmentalists" giving themselves pats on the back to make themselves feel better.

>> No.15538271

>>15536075
This.
Also, if you care about your progeny a lot and believe they're all going to die, still doesn't make sense to care. If I don't care about the environment, and can somehow, no matter through what means, even if it means completely fuck the planet over, earn enough money for my progeny to comfortable. Generational money that is. Then when push comes to shove and the poor die and the elites are svaed, my kids will already be elites and be saved. Because their great grandpa, me, invested in coal mines or something and made enough money. This is just a hypothetical scenario. Point is to just focus on your life and all will be good.

there is a serious issue with this solution. our problem is not that we have an excess of solar energy. reducing the amount we receive is only going to cause further environmental issues (though admittedly more favourable ones).

it would be better to develop more carbon capture technology and treat the cause, not the symptom.
