Gentlemen, i'm bored, so I shall pose to you a question. To prove this is not a stupid homework thread, I shall include the numerical answer. Your challenge will be to get from a to b, as it were.
Assume a cylinder of mass 120kg is placed on a trolley of 150kg, 4m from the end of the cart. At t=0, the cart is subject to a force F(t)=800t. The cart moves without resistance while the cylinder rolls backwards. At 2.05s, the cylinder reaches the end of the cart. How far has the cart travelled in that time?

Protip - it's 6.03m

What is the radius of the cylinder? Is it hollow or solid? Its rotational inertia actually matters for this problem, not just its mass.
