Not a research problem, but only a textbook physics problem. Is it normal for a PhD student to take 2-3 days to solve some problems? Should I give up already?

Depends if this is relevant to your research or not. You shouldn't be spending days on easy q's in your field, but if it's not something you're working on directly it's fine to forget these basic things (as long as you can eventually work it out)
